HP wants to be a force in 3D printing

HP plans on having a 3D printer available on the market in 2016 and has started to tease its functionality, stressing speed and flexibility. Check out the video above and the one below for some peaks into what HP plans on being able to deliver.

3D printing is expected to explode into a huge industry so HP wants to leverage its legacy printing business to move into this area. The initial machines will likely be more for businesses as the printer will be large and expensive, but we can see a time in the future when a 3D printer is sold in consumer gadget stores.

Will Apple improve Beats Audio?

Beats Audio by Dr. Dre is a great example of style and brand can trump product details. Of course quality matters even in the headphones business, but the opinion of audiophiles regarding sound quality isn’t going to impact 15-year-old kids on what they determine to be cool.

The cool factor propelled the Beats brand and ultimately made Dr. Dre a billionaire with Apple’s acquisition of his company. This is a perfect compliment to iTunes and the iPhone, but it will be interesting to see if Apple applies some of its billions to also improve the quality of the product.

This is pretty awesome. The world’s cheapest and most versatile gadget is … wait for it … the humble cable tie. That’s right; because, apart from their day to day use in the way in which they were intentioned (neatly tying all those unruly cables together of course) cable ties also have myriad other uses you may never have thought of. And when you think you can buy a whole bag load of them for less than the price of a cup of coffee – this makes them by far the most cost-effective gadget out there.

But first a few basics about cable ties. The name actually covers quite a broad range of products from the one that immediately springs to most people’s minds; the simple ridged nylon cable tie with one point end and tiny triangular teeth all along that only slope in one direction so you can lock them onto things – to far more technically demanding products used by electricians, technicians and other professionals in a wide range of settings.
