I placed the order for my free Apple Bumper case last week and it’s already here. Having the Bumper on the phone makes me appreciate the flat surfaces on both sides. I would have killed for a case like this on my 3GS – it’s small and unobtrusive, it still looks great, and you aren’t covering up the Apple design that has made the products so coveted.
The best part, of course, is that it was free. I would be hard pressed to drop $30 on one of these things, even with how much I like it. I should probably also mention, if you make a habit of dropping your phone like a good friend of mine, you should either invest in a good, sturdy case, or just assume that you’ll be paying a couple hundred bucks every few months to replace your phone.
According to iLounge, Apple has instituted a ban against all screen protectors in its online store and retail locations. That’s screen protectors of any type, folks, whether its a film or integrated into some sort of case. I really have no clue why it would do this unless some marketing genius sad, “Hey Steve, we tout our great screens and then sell stuff to protect those screens. Isn’t that a mixed message?” Why no one smacked that guy and said, “Dumbass, those are some of our most popular accessories,” is beyond me.
It’s not that Apple is ordering case manufacturers to cease and desist. Those products simply won’t be available under an Apple roof any longer. It’s really an odd move considering the popularity of sleeves, cases, anti-glare films and the like. Obviously people will keep buying these things, they just won’t be buying them from Apple. Does that sound crazy to anyone else?
Today I’ve got another video review for you. This time it’s the iSkin Revo2, a rubbery case designed for maximum shock absorption and a little moisture protection.
It’s a decent case, though it can be tough to get a good fit around the phone. At $39.99 it’s a little too expensive for what the product offers, but a decent buy if you can find it on sale. If you’re looking for a simple case that looks nice with decent shock protection, check out the iSkin Solo or Solo FX.
Today I’ve got a review of the Solo line of iPhone cases from iSkin. I decided to shoot the review as a video so you can really see the benefits of the case. Overall, iSkin’s put together an excellent product. It’s simple, fits the phone well, and looks great. My only complaint is price. At $29.99 for the Solo and $32.99 for the Solo FX, the cases are a bit more expensive than the features they offer. If you can get a deal on either, it would be worth picking up.
Apple’s new iPhone didn’t get the aesthetic overhaul some people were looking for, which is a big win for third party manufacturers. Forget clearance prices; accessories like the Juice Pack Air carry over seamlessly, and in the case of Mophie’s gadget, actually improve.
According to Mophie, the Juice Pack Air, a combination protective case and battery life extender, nearly doubles the battery life of an iPhone 3GS. The company cites the following specs for their battery:
